This year I will be participating in the Tour de Fleece, July 4 - July 26. Tour de Fleece is a yarn spinning event that takes place each year on the same days as the famous bicycle race, Tour de France. This year Saturday July 4, 2015 marked the first day of the Tour de France, which means it was also the start of the Tour de Fleece. During the Tour de Fleece, spinners like to spin each day the race is held and challenge themselves to spin more than they usually would. Tour de Fleecers are encouraged to follow a similar schedule as the Tour de France athletes, spinning on days of the race, resting on rest days, and on their most challenging day doing something extra challenging for spinning.
This is my first year participating, and I hope you guys join in too! I don't have any particular yardage goals, but I will be tracking the weight of fiber I am spinning. If you'd like to see my progress each day, be sure to join my Ravelry group and you can follow me on Instagram as well to see what I'm spinning! All the yarns I spin will be available in the shop after the Tour de Fleece has ended (unless there are any skeins I just cannot get myself to part with, then those will be all miiiine)
For July 6, here is my spin of the day:
The skein I spun today weighs in at 4.2 oz of 100% Bluefaced Leicester wool. The combed top was dyed by me. I always enjoy spinning BFL, it practically spin itself it's so smooth.
I hope you guys enjoy following along on my first Tour de Fleece journey. Let's see how much fiber I can spin this month!
